Michael Loos is an American photographer , videomaker and designer . He defines himself as an image engineer , thus giving life to a new profession that he has been carrying out for more than 30 years.

Loos attended the University of Cincinnati , Ohio, where he earned his bachelor's degree in design. His career begins when he moves to New York City , where he works as a graphic designer at Chermayeff & Geismar, specializing in corporate identity. Subsequently, he moves to Florence , where he is inspired by the rich and innovative history of Italian artists and architects. He thus begins to research and experiment with new ways of communicating.

He currently lives and works in Milan , where he reworks images, offering his personal vision of reality and the subjects presented, interpreting emotions and sensations derived from his experiences.

The Trees of Places series tells the connection between the artist and nature. He photographs trees from different perspectives, conveying the intrinsic identity of the trunks and barks. His photographs carry apparently hidden messages that Loos reveals through the lens. The subjects take on anthropomorphic forms that stand out against the sky following their natural laws of freedom.
