Silvia Guadagnin and Tommaso Mauriello met in Venice while attending the IUAV University. They started working together forming Copia, a visual collective focused on video, installation and photography. Through their collaboration, they research ways of reversing hegemonic practices in terms of duplicity, humour, and ambiguity meet site-specific enquiry. Their interest in the visual and its presentation is inspired by their wanderings and findings through the city and its outskirts. Copia artistic practice draws upon the world of forms present in the urban space, bringing fine lines between presence and absence, power and powerlessness, authority and empowerment to the forefront of discussion.
