1953 Roosendaal, Netherlands
Ad van Hassel (Roosendaal, 1953) studied as a visual artist in Maarten Krabbe's studio. There he developed skills in various techniques. Urban landscapes, landscapes and flowery still lifes are often the theme of his work. His cityscapes bear witness to an exceptionally sharp insight into spatial perspective. In his etchings in particular, a play of lines in perspective is depicted with an eye for detail and almost effortless precision. In 1985, therefore, an etching by him was included in the Rijksprentenkabinet of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
Between 1981 and 1986, Ad van Hassel had his own art dealer. But despite the commercial success, his work as an artist increasingly gained the upper hand and he recovered as a free artist several years ago. Previously, he worked mainly from reality, now he gives free rein to his imagination and focuses on screen printing, where his preference for the play of colors really takes off.
